	<title>Debt Settlement</title>
	<description>
You have probably heard people mention the term debt settlement before, but are you sure about what it means to you? Sure, it is easy to listen to someone else's experiences, and one can even learn from them, but you cannot bas your choice of whether or not to opt for debt settlement on someone else. You need to understand what debt settlement means to you and how it will either fit in with your long term financial goals, or impede them.

An explanation in a nutshell
Basically, with debt settlement one has to find the right company first. And so you must find out more about a few before you decide on one in particular. In this day and age there are a whole host of debt settlement companies with sites online for you to find out more. Once you have found one, they will start be contacting all of your creditors, informing them that you want to settle. Then the negotiations begin! With debt settlement you can expect to get your debt slashed by as much as 57%!

Unlike debt consolidation, this is not something that you will pay off over time, but rather will be expected to pay off that final reduced balance immediately, although you may be able to find a debt settlement program that gives you 1-3 years to pay it off. Because of this, many of us will have to find other forms of debt help because there are not many of us who have a lump sum of cash that we can use for such a purpose.

But, if we can then after that debt settlement sum has been paid, you will no longer owe any of the creditors and they will be off your back. But, the downside of this form of debt management is that because you will not have satisfied the loan according to the original agreements, it will not bode well for you credit report. Some people still employ the help of a debt settlement company because they can start to save more money right away.

It is up to you to decide which form of debt relief is right for you. Maybe management, maybe simple consolidation of your existing debts would work best, or maybe a quick, direct strike at the heart of the matter through debt settlement programs. The choice, and the power, is yours.
